IPPC publishes The report “Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change”
On April 4, 2022, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published part 3 on Climate Change Mitigation, which is also the final part of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6). After Part 1 on the basis of climate science (published on 9/8/2021) and Part 2 on Impact, Adaptation and Vulnerability (published on 28/2/2022), Part 3 focuses on assess the scientific, technological, environmental, economic and social aspects of climate change mitigation.
With this report, the 278 authors of IPPC Working Group III provided policymakers with a clear view of the current state of climate change and the importance of climate change mitigation commitments in the world. The authors emphasize that we have options across all sectors to reduce emissions by half by 2030. Climate actions in the coming years are particularly important to achieving the goal of limiting global warming at 1.5 °C. The report also points to the need to close the gap in investment in climate protection.
